The Masters in Banking and Finance is a pioneering program in Ukraine enables graduates to master cutting-edge financial theories and acquire practical experiences and tools thus letting participants to improve their financial decision-making and management skills in a demanding business environment.
Participants will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge in all aspects of finance, through a multi-disciplinary, innovative and integrative curriculum, taught by an international team of world-class faculty, supported by expertise of top financial managers and enhanced by consideration on real world business cases and live projects.

Audience

The Ms in Banking and Finance is for individuals wishing to pursue a career in the finance sector, such as investment and commercial banking, asset management, risk management, financial services and consultancy, or hold corporate finance positions within international companies at a managerial level.
This program is designed for experienced finance professionals who want to advance or change their current career prospects and wish to deepen their financial knowledge in the fields of financial markets, financial institutions, corporate finance and quantitative finance.

Admission

Applicants should have at least two years relevant work experience. Candidates with less than two years experience are only accepted if they have excellent analytical skills and can make a very good case why it is the right time for them to join the program.

Training Format

Modular. Full-time studies are based on classes at School for four days per month. The support of knowledge system is provided between classes by means of: business case tasks, interactive tasks and tests in the system, personal guidance by professors.

MBF Program Structure

The kmbs Ms in Banking and Finance [MBF] is a modular program and consists of five stages, each demonstrating clearly defined objectives and showing expected results. Every stage is followed by an examination. The Master’s degree project defense takes place at the final part of the Program in order to summarize knowledge gained at MBF.

The First Stage: Practical
Duration: 4 modules
Languages: Ukrainian, Russian

This phase is aimed at mastering the basic tools of Financial Analysis in practice: company budgeting, calculation of cash flow from investing activities, sensitivity analysis of investment projects concerning basic risk factors, effective application of investment criteria in investment decision making, portfolio analysis implementation into investment activities of a company, development  of corporate funding strategies, business valuation for mergers and acquisitions, optimal client-oriented  investment portfolio: peculiarities of its development in Ukraine, understanding of motives of financial intermediaries essential for efficient financial management.

The Second Stage: Economics  
Duration: 3 modules
Languages: Ukrainian, Russian

This phase is aimed at mastering key principles of financial decision making by employing instruments of higher mathematics, probability theory, stochastic calculus, microeconomics, macroeconomics, informational economics, informatics and programming, psychology, basics of econometrics, and business statistics.

The Third Stage: Analytical 
Duration: 4 modules

The phase is aimed at mastering key analytical techniques: econometric analysis, time series analysis, simulation analysis, sensitivity analysis, credit analysis, and crisis forecasting. It also shows practical application of the acquired techniques in real business activities in various economic sectors.
Throughout this phase most advanced database operation tools, models, algorithms, statistics, and software packages (Matlab, STATA, SPSS, SWP) are thoroughly studied.

The Fourth Stage: Management
Duration: 3 modules

The phase is aimed at acquiring key managerial skills: team work; informational management; innovative management; presentation techniques; preparing a company for IPO, merger and acquisition; risk management; incentive management; labour activity stimulation; work performance evaluation. The program encourages and makes provision for preparing and publishing analytical information, presentation materials, and articles in mass media.

The Fifth Stage: Strategic
Duration: 2 modules

The phase is aimed at acquiring key skills of developing investment and financial strategies adjusted for moral hazard, signaling, market uncertainty and competition. Participants also study methods of business research, strategic marketing, HR management, and game modeling.

Master’s Degree Project
Qualification: Master of Banking and Finance
Duration: 4 months
Languages: Ukrainian, Russian

Master’s Degree Project is the final and concluding part of the MBF Program where MBF students have to write and defend their Master’s degree projects. Master’s degree project consists in developing a complete investment strategy, a new financial or insurance product, internal and external funding strategies, etc. The project shall also demonstrate that the MBF student is experienced with advanced tools of Financial Analysis both in modeling and practical application. The Master’s degree project is carried out under supervision of MBF faculty.
